Looking at adding some upfiring Atmos speakers at some point but am confused as to placement. I'll probably get the Kef R50 ones as the rest of mine are Kef and even if I upgrade, I like the Kef sound so will probably stick with those. Just confused as to placement. My set up is a living room

Not to be an ass, but the guy selling upfiring speakers thinks upfiring speakers are best. I'm using upfiring for the next two months and I've got to say that even on Atmos demo reals the effect is incredibly subtle (i.e. "that's overhead right? Yeah, I think so"). I don't think that'll be the case once the speakers are mounted in-ceiling.

Apr 15, 2010 · I just added 4 of the Pioneer upfiring Atmos enabled speakers. They definitely make a difference in my room, but I would assume height would do better. In my case though, it was upfiring or nothing and I certainly prefer having them over not.
